You’re Never Too Old to Straighten Your Teeth With Invisalign

When you think of braces, you may picture an awkward adolescent, along with other unpleasant memories from middle or high school. But if you’re no longer a teenager, you’re not too old to straighten your teeth — and you don’t have to do it with an uncomfortable mouth full of metal, either.

Invisalign® is an innovative solution for straightening your teeth that involves sets of clear, plastic aligners to gradually shift your teeth. It’s discreet, far more comfortable, and less of a hassle than traditional braces.

At Dental Care By Design, Dr. Larry Adams can examine the alignment of your teeth and discuss whether Invisalign is right for you.

How Invisalign works

After taking a series of the impression of your teeth, Dr. Adams sends them to the manufacturers of Invisalign, called Aligntech, who then design a “ClinCheck,” or virtual model of your teeth.

This allows Dr. Adams to see what your teeth will look like as they shift from their current alignment to how they will look after being treated with Invisalign. This model also serves as the template for creating custom aligners that shift your teeth into their new alignment.

You wear each set of aligners for 20-22 hours per day for a week or two, depending on the specific schedule set up for you. You only take the aligners out when brushing your teeth or eating, so you don’t have to avoid sticky foods as you would with traditional braces. Your new smile can be complete in just a few months to a year, also unlike braces, which you would likely have to wear a year or more.

Advantages of Invisalign

Not only are Invisalign aligners less noticeable than metal braces, but they are far more comfortable. You don’t have to deal with the soreness that comes with getting braces tightened, nor the chafing on the insides of your cheeks from the metal brackets and wires.

Invisalign retainers are also easier to clean than metal braces, which require special tools and extra time. With Invisalign, you simply remove the aligners and brush and floss like normal. Best yet, the entire straightening treatment is a lot less time-consuming.

These are just a few of the reasons that over 6 million people all over the world are using Invisalign.
